By August 12, 2016 No Comments

mayweddingAs the weather begins to warm up and summertime plans begin to trickle into your itinerary, it’s hard not to notice that wedding season is vastly approaching. Whether it’s in the Rocky Mountains, a luxurious destination downtown or in the outskirts of town, weddings require a lot of time, planning and commitment. To help get you organized, here are our 10 quick tips to make the most of wedding season in Calgary.

1. Spot the sale
When it comes to weddings, you know that you’ll have to be fully prepared to be part of countless photos. For the best deals on your new suits and dresses, shop early and keep an eye on your favourite items hitting the sale rack both in store and online. Stay with us during your visit and we will give you a $75 gift card to Chinook Shopping Centre!

2. Start Saving
Now. – This is no joke. Being a guest at a wedding costs a lot of money and between the shower, stag or stagette, bachelor or bachelorette party and the wedding itself, it will add up. Try and save $20-60 from each pay cheque to relieve some of that money stress.

3. Brush up on your conversation skills
This tip should be taken seriously. You will be bound to talk to a plethora of people at any given wedding, so it’s good to brush up on how to be genuine and have an engaging conversation. Sounds silly, but you’ll thank us later.

Just like we mentioned prior, weddings cost a lot of money to attend so it’s okay if you can’t make ALL the weddings you’re invited to. Prioritize which occasions mean the most to you and put those at the top of list.

5. Wear something that makes you feel special
When you look good, you’ll feel good. Wear something that you feel comfortable in and ladies, don’t forget to bring a flip flops or flats to get you through your impressive electric slide and Cadillac ranch moves.

6. Make destination weddings a vacation
Destinations are the perfect opportunity to plan a vacation. Try heading up (or down) a bit early and while the bride and groom are busy with last-minutes arrangements, you will have all the free time in the world to explore on your own.

7. Watch your drinking
Now, you’ve made it to the wedding and are feeling pretty good about celebrating your loved one’s happiness. Remember to stay classy and know you’re limit when it comes to alcohol and make sure to eat if you do plan to drink.

8. Bring a friend
Single? Don’t sweat it. There’s no need to stress about finding a date; bring a friend instead. Not only will you have a great time, but you’ll also feel more comfortable with a friend rather than a last-minute date.

9. Pamper yourself
It’s okay to show yourself some love when it comes to wedding season. Plan a mani or pedi (or both) and for our male attendees, why not try out a straight razor shave from your local barber for a fresh clean look.
